objects about movement

There are objects we just can't resist touching. They entice us, provoke us, seduce us. Their appearance clearly tells us they are going to react to our actions. Soon we give in to the irresistible temptation to put them to the test: are they really going to do what they claim they will?

Giovanni Pellone's Boing dish is a translucent dish elegantly resting on a steel spring, but it's obvious this dish wants to do much more than just rest. As we tentatively touch it to find out, the dish starts wiggling irresistibly; as we push harder the wiggle turns into an energetic bounce.

Needless to say, the dish also responds to the objects we place on it, compressing under their weight, squatting lower and lower, as if saying: "stop please, you're killing me!"

Challenging the rules of physics and common sense, the Drop bowl, also by Giovanni Pellone, was designed with a round bottom. "How can such a container work?" one asks. "It looks like it's about to roll over and spill all of its contents on the floor."

In reality, the thick cast resin bowl has enough weight to counterbalance the weight of its contents, and yes, if you touch it, it will rock!
